2023 Estate Chardonnay
The Chardonnay was hand harvested and whole-cluster pressed, then fermented in both new French and neutral oak, as well as a Concrete egg. Blended before bottling for a complex wine with both oak and concrete mouthfeel and texture complexity.
Our 2023 Chardonnay is the fifth release of our Riverview Vineyard Estate grown Chardonnay.
Tasting notes
The wine greets you with notes of dandelion, slate, and hints of peach. With a wild green-ness to it, the wine is reminiscent of an late summer hike in the Cascade Mountains.
Production notes
Cold settled 2 nights at 50 degrees then racked to French oak barrels, a small stainless tank, and a 185 gallon concrete egg. The barrels fermented the fastest and warmest with the concrete taking the slowest to ferment, but all finished within 3 days of each other. Aged for ~ 10 months, then blended and bottled. The final blend in the bottle is 88% French oak and 12% Stainless steel barrel. The oak component in about 40% NFO
