2024 Chardonnay
2024 Chardonnay

The Chardonnay was hand harvested and whole-cluster pressed, then fermented and aged in a combination of French oak and Stainless steel barrels.  The French oak was 100% new Seguin Moreau Chagny Bourgogne Icone barrels.  It is roughly 50% new French oak and 50% stainless barrels in the finished wine.

This wine was fun to make, even more fun to share. Our 2024 Chardonnay is the sixth release of our Riverview Vineyard Estate grown Chardonnay.

Tasting notes

A luminous golden hue leads into aromas of Meyer lemon and marmalade. This wine hums like a Taylor Swift acoustic set…it's an old favorite, reminding you why you love it. With salmon on the grill, the day’s heat softening into evening. Flavors of lightly grilled pineapple, flaky croissant, and a touch of browned butter create a balance of richness and lift. Familiar, comforting, and quietly captivating.

Other notes

In January 2024, Washington experienced an unusual cold event that affected various wine-growing regions differently. Areas at higher elevations suffered significant bud damage due to the freeze. However, vineyards at lower elevations, such as those in the Wahluke Slope, were less impacted. This resilience is attributed to the region's proximity to the Columbia River, which helps moderate temperatures and reduce frost risk. Throughout the growing season, the Wahluke Slope experienced typical conditions characterized by warm temperatures and low precipitation. These conditions facilitated consistent vine growth and grape ripening. Overall, despite the early-season freeze, the 2024 growing season yielded high-quality fruit.
